What food would you say is your specialty?

My best food recipe is spaghetti sauce, which, for a guy, is a big project.

I keep everything simple though, so as not to tax my leviathan male brain. I start with two big tins of chopped tomatoes. I throw those in a slow cooker pot. Then I take about a half a pound of hamburger, nice and lean, and drop it in a skillet. I cook the hamburger until brown, drain it, and throw it in the slow cooker.

While this is going on, I add a few ingredients to another pan for frying in butter: things like onions, mushrooms, green pepper, red pepper, and garlic. When these are sautéed nicely, I slide them into the slow cooker pot as well. I then add a whole uncooked sliced tomatoe, green pepper, onion, and garlic on top of them.

After that, it’s just a matter of adding spices. I use the whole gauntlet of Italian spices, like oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme and parsley, plus salt and pepper.

If I’m really feeling adventurous I’ll even add a dash or two of whiskey, Johnny Walker Red, to the mix.

Now this may sound like overload, but don’t forget, I am working from a basic male mindset here that doesn’t know a kitchen from a tool shed.

Anyway, I let that simmer in the slowcooker for about eight hours and voila – food fit for a king!

Oh, I forgot: My mom used to tell me to throw in a tin of store-bought spaghetti sauce, just to be sure.
